Lillian E. Jensen, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband, James Sr.; a daughter, Jennifer Jensen; two sons, James Jr. and Jon, all of Lincoln, Neb.; a son-in-law, Mike Sheetz of Cedar Rapids; brother, Howard (Beverly) Harter of Logan; and a sister, Dorothy Reuland of Council Bluffs. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Bracken (Jerime) Mitchell, Jesse (Emily) Land, Layne (Anna) Sheetz and Landon (Kelsey) Sheetz; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Wilson, Dante and Melia Land and Shayla Shreeves; and one great-great-grandchild, Curtis McCrary.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Melissa Sheetz and Michele Land-Coats; and Michele's wife, Patricia.
Lillian was born July 12, 1933, in Logan, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Rachel Beck Harter. She attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and later graduated from Coe College with a degree in education. She married James J. Jensen Sr. on June 20, 1968, in Cedar Rapids.
Lillian was a teacher at Benton Community Schools and retired from there after more than 34 years of service.
She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Lillian enjoyed playing golf, traveling with her husband, Jim, and especially the time spent with her beloved family and friends.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the kidney foundation or Camp Courageous in Lillian's name.
