Jensen, Raymond
Raymond Jensen, 81, died Aug. 11, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with the Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery near Atkins, with graveside military rites conducted by John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post 167 of Newhall and the Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Visitation also will be held at the church in Newhall from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established.
Raymond was born Dec. 24, 1928, at Stanton, Neb., to Reuben and Helen (Oltner) Jensen. He served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was honorable discharged on May 28, 1954. He married Willave Volk at Battle Creek, Neb., and was later united in marriage to Dorothy Rinderknecht.
Raymond was a technician at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and he retired in 1994. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall and the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post 167 of Newhall. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jensen of Washington state; his son, Mark (Marcey) Jensen of Atkins; his stepchildren, Chuck Rinderknecht of Cedar Rapids, Ron Rinderknecht of Utah and Renee Rinderknecht of Washington state; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Reuben (Clara) Jensen of Stanton, Neb.; and his sister, Delores (Bill) Kucera of Herrin, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Nancy Lea Jensen and Ila Jane Bintz; and his brother, Roland Jensen.
