Jerald "Jerry" Wayne Jensen, 65, of Iowa City, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus of Cedar Rapids or Camp Courageous.
Jerry was born on May 22, 1953, in Iowa City, the son of Robert and Betty (Schintler) Jensen. He worked for Wolf Construction. Jerry was a master woodcrafter and pottery maker. He loved to write his own music and play keyboard and organ. He was active in 4H during high school and attended LifePoint Church in Tiffin.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Betty Jensen of Iowa City; two siblings, Randy (Eleni) Jensen of Iowa City and Julie (Duane) Brun of Lone Tree; six nieces and nephews, Cassandra (Mike) Crumly and their children Aidan and Adam of Muscatine, Heather Hintermeister of Muscatine, Matthew (Stephanie) Hintermeister and their children Norah and Ben of Davenport, Austin Jensen of Iowa City, Alex Jensen of Iowa City, and Ted (Dimitra) Panos and their children Gus and Christo of North Liberty; and the family dog, Bailey.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jensen; and brother, Thomas Jensen.
