Yount, Ann K.
Ann K. Yount, 100, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Monday, March 29, 2010, at Village Ridge, Marion. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Private family inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat (R.J.) Stephan, four grandchildren, Craig (Sheila) Stephan, all of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Carrie) Stephan of Iowa City, Connie (Dave) Kielty of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Laura (Mike) Collins of Seneca, S.C.; nine great-grandchildren, David (Katie), Cameron, Robbie (friend, Hannah Klocke) Stephan, Matthew, Nicholas Kielty, Alison, Van, Louis Stephan, and Courtney Collins; one great-great-grandchild, Benjamin Stephan; and a sister-in-law, Lois Yount of Miami, Fla.
Ann was born May 18, 1909, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Maude Hayner. She married Lawrence Yount on Oct. 3, 1932, in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Florida in 1973 where she was a secretary in West Palm Beach. In 1989, Ann retired and they moved back to Iowa. Ann was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and touched the lives of many people by volunteering 3,896 hours of service with the Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Larry, who died in 2000; and two sons, Robert and infant, James.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Catholic Church or Hospice Compassus.
The family extends special thank you to the staff at Village Ridge, Dr. Lisa Hazelton, and the staff at Hospice Compassus for taking excellent care of Ann. She loved all her caregivers and friends at Village Ridge and she was admired and loved by all who knew her.
