Billy L. Davis, 89, of Parnell, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at the Solon Care Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials in Billy's name may be made to Iowa City Hospice.

Billy LeRoy Davis was born March 30, 1926, in Iowa City, Iowa. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific as part of the amphibious forces in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After his time in the war he returned home and married Margaret E. Gritton on Jan. 29, 1946. Billy worked for many years in the Iowa City area as an interior trim carpenter. When he got away, you could find him fishing in Northern Minnesota.
His family includes his children, Kelly Wieland (Rob) of Eagle Point, Ore., William Davis (Kathy) of Tipton and Denise Davis (Carol Fox) of Iowa City; grandsons, Brett Miller (Michelle) of Alexandria, Minn., Jason Davis (Samantha) of Iowa City and Bryan Davis (Jenna) of North Liberty; and great-grandchildren, Meghan Miller, Shawn Miller, Alana Davis, Alison Davis, Katelyn Davis and Liam Davis.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; daughter, Sherry Etta Davis; and his siblings.
His family would like to acknowledge the exceptional and loving care shown to Billy and his family from the nursing staff at the Solon Care Center.
