Comstock, Charles 'Wes'
Charles “Wes” Comstock, 69, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his residence following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Van Horne with the Rev. David Lingard officiating. Private committal services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
Charles, known to his family and friends as “Wes,” was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Oskaloosa, to George and Darlene (Tucker) Comstock.
On Sept. 16, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Sue McCarty at Kirksville, Mo. She preceded him in death in July 2004.
He was the transport supervisor for Colonial Bakery.
He is survived by his daughter, Shari (Alva) Williams of Van Horne; his sons, Neal Comstock of Van Horne, Pat (Tracy) Comstock of Cedar Rapids, Barry (Carla) Comstock of Des Moines, and Gary (Renee) Comstock of Cedar Rapids; many grand and great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Rex (Mary) Comstock of Des Moines, and Donald (Ruth) Comstock of Phoenix, Ariz.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left at .
