McMann, Irene Louise (Ehrman)
Irene Louise (Ehrman) McMann, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Dr. Don Jackson. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her eight children, Mary McMann of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Robert) Hildenbrand of Cedar Rapids, Ellen (David) Barber of Kokomo, Ind., Teresa (Charles) Saxon of Cedar Rapids, Curtis McMann of Napa, Calif., Neal (Mary Ann) McMann of Yuma, Ariz., Ted (Lori) McMann of Cedar Rapids and Kevin (Karen) McMann of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Harry (Katie) Ehrman of Middle Amana, Willard (Lorraine) Ehrman of Cedar Rapids and Lloyd (Evelyn) Ehrman of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; sister-in-law, Ida Ehrman of Albuquerque, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Ed Ehrman.
Irene was born Aug. 3, 1917, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Dickel) Ehrman in Marengo, Iowa. She attended school in Marengo. After schooling, she worked for her grandmother's sandwich shop and as a cook for a local attorney. Irene married Cleo McMann on Dec. 5, 1942, in Texas while he was serving in the U.S. Army. She came back to Cedar Rapids while Cleo was still overseas. Cleo died Feb. 2, 1985.
Irene's life was dedicated to raising her children. She was a member of the High Amana Church. Irene was a fabulous cook, baker, mother and friend, and was an avid Hawkeye fan.
