McKone, Joseph
Joseph McKone, 51, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Surviving to honor his memory is his wife, Maggie; his children, Kelsey, Katelyn and Kaleb McKone, all of Lisbon; his parents, Robert and Agnes McKone of Carroll; two brothers, Dr. Timothy (Marion) McKone of Mason City, and Bill (Marion) McKone of Calif; and a sister, Susan (Doug) Burks of Decorah.
He was preceded in death by his niece, Lisa Neal.
Joe was born May 1, 1959, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Robert and Agnes (Kirsch) McKone. He was united in marriage to Margaret Milota on Oct. 1, 1988. After high school, Joe worked as an EMT/Paramedic. He then received his Nursing Diploma from Allen in Waterloo. He was very passionate about his role as an emergency room RN at hospitals in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area. Joe was a member of Lisbon United Methodist Church.
He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, photography, breeding and raising Labrador retrievers and spending time with his family. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
