Report: A.J. Edds signs with Indianapolis Colts
Mike Hlas Sep. 28, 2011 11:33 am
Former Iowa linebacker A.J. Edds is in demand.
Edds signed with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday night according to Edds' hometown paper, the Daily Journal of Greenwood (and other towns), Indiana. I got an email from a relative of Edds', who told me the same thing.
Though he had what appeared to be a good preseason, Edds was put on waivers by the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7 and claimed by the New England Patriots. He played in the first two games of the season for New England. The Patriots released Edds last Thursday, but wanted to keep him around and added him to their practice squad on Saturday.
He was originally drafted by Miami in the fourth round (199th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Iowa. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a knee injury. Edds was a three-year starter at Iowa.
Meanwhile, former Iowa defensive tackle Mitch King was released by the New Orleans Saints and then signed to the Saints' practice squad.
