Donald Keith McCallister, 84, of Marion, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Rick Gail of Assembly of God Church. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday after 10 a.m.
Don is survived by his daughter, Denise (Darwin) Ammeter of Solon; his son, Norman (Sharon Oglesby) of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Matthew, Josh, Danielle, Shane and Cameron; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; brothers, Curtis, George and Wayne; and sisters, Opal Conn, Eileen Wagner, Rita Butler and Ruby Schwarting.
Don was born on July 12, 1933, in rural Williamsburg, the son of John and Ocie Martin McCallister. He married Marion on May 7, 1977, in Elkader. Don was a pipefitter for many years and was a member of Pipefitters Union, Local 125.
Don enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, trapping, gardening and gambling, especially playing poker, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
