13-year-old charged in C.R. fatal shooting posed for online photo pointing gun

The 13-year-old accused in the unintentional shooting of 15-year-old Senquez Jackson last month apparently posed two days before for an online photo of himself pointing a gun at the camera while smoking 'what appears” to be marijuana, court documents show.
A detention document provides a few more details of what happened on March 18, when Dennis Warren discharged a gun, which struck Jackson, killing him. Police said last month it appeared to be unintentional and Greg Buelow, department spokesman, said Wednesday this is an ongoing investigation.
Assistant Linn County Attorney Kelly Kaufman said Thursday Warren was handling a small 38-caliber semi-automatic pistol when the ammo clip from the handle was pulled by someone. Warren told police he thought that indicated the gun was unloaded, but there was still a bullet in the gun and it discharged.
Jackson, a freshman at Washington High School, was found inside a home at 1424 Bever Ave. SE, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at St. Luke's Hospital on March 19.
An obituary states he was active in sports and enjoyed playing video games, being with his dog, Buster, and hanging out with friends and his family.
A detention document shows the gun was brought into the home by another person who has a 'significant history of serious law violations.”
The criminal complaint filed Wednesday in juvenile court states Warren then gave the gun to another person at the McDonalds on First Avenue to prevent the police from finding it. This person also had a significant history of violations, the detention document adds.
Warren was charged Wednesday in juvenile court with involuntary manslaughter, carrying weapons, preventing apprehension and obstructing prosecution. Warren remained in custody following Wednesday's hearing. The case will remain in juvenile court because of his age. A pretrial hearing for Warren is set April 29.
