Paul Alan Ries, 62, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at the University of Alabama Birmingham. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. (Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for the streets near the church). A party will be held from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Radison-Kinnick Ballroom. Attendees are encouraged to wear something comfortable and not too drab.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Habitat for Humanity, the First United Methodist Church or the Free Lunch Program of the Church (FUMC).
