Jana Lou Grady, 63, of Johnston, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Jana was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joseph and Wilma (Coover) Grady. Jana liked helping people. She received her Master's in social work from the University of Iowa and was a licensed independent social worker. Jana was united in marriage to David Leitner on Sept. 11, 1982, in Forest City. They had two children. Jana was devoted to her family and enjoyed reading, traveling, flowers, art and music.
Jana is survived by her husband, David Leitner; children, Morgan Leitner and Gabriel Leitner; granddaughter, Elliana Ruth Leitner; siblings, Michael (Narola) Grady and Susan (Charles) Fenwick; uncle and aunt, Art and Pat Beckman; and several nieces and nephews.
Those who have already passed away include her parents; brother, Patrick Grady; and nephew, Kyle Grady.
A memorial gathering will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amanda the Panda or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
