Riverfront Recreation

CORALVILLE - The city of Coralville unveiled Tuesday night a plan to increase riverfront recreational opportunities along a section of the Iowa River from Interstate 80 to just past the Iowa River Power Company restaurant.
What's included?
Proposed projects include zip lines across the river, an outdoor stage for concerts and festivals, an ice rink, a marina, boat and kayak launch sites, a splash park, trails, shelter areas, a playground and a retail shopping area.
What's next?
The master plan will be fully developed over the next decade. Officials hope to to break ground in the next few years on some of the projects, tackling one every year or two.
Who's paying?
The city will fund individual projects by seeking grants, private donations and public-private partnerships.
