Doris R. Nelson, 86, of Keystone, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 118 High St., Waterloo, with the Rev. Gary Olson officiating, and where friends may register from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Committal services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Keystone Cemetery in Keystone. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
A memorial fund has been established.
Doris was born July 11, 1928, in Elberon to George and Mary (Sikir) Kucera. Before retiring she taught school at Garwin and at Benton Community and had been employed at Wal-Mart.
She loved traveling, baking and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Loretta (Glen) Herzberger of Broken Arrow, Okla., Corene (Dan) Criger of Norwalk, Dora (Gary) Zmolek of Toledo and Roger (Kim) Junge of Keystone; her stepchildren, Shelley (Doug) Weltruski of Cedar Falls, John (Lise) Nelson of Moravia and Jeff (Deb) Nelson of Faribault, Minn.; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sisters, Wilma Kalina of Cedar Rapids and Marge (Max) Crandall of Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, LaVerne Junge, Harold Thomas and Robert Nelson; one son-in-law; and one great-grandchild.
