Ted G. Nelson, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 22, 2015. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private family inurnment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ted was born Nov. 11, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, to Allen and Albia (Reznicek) Nelson. He attended Ellsworth Junior College and later graduated from Midland Lutheran College with a bachelor's degree. Ted was united in marriage to Sondra Lois Bassin on Dec. 29, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. To this union, one son was born.
Ted worked for many years as a service representative for Amana and later opened Professional Realty with his wife in 1985. He was proud to be a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the El Kahir Shrine. Ted also served as a past president of the Cedar Rapids Jaycees.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Sondra; son, Taylor Nelson of Cedar Rapids; brother, Edwin (Peggy) Nelson of Luzerne; two nieces, Tammy and Shawna and their families; and a nephew, Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established in Ted's honor.
