Sandy M. Nelson, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, May 25, with visitation one hour prior at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Sandy was born July 31, 1941, in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon "Red" and Iretta (Still) Miller. She married Dennis E. Nelson on Nov. 15, 1959, in Norfolk, Neb. He later passed away in 2013. Sandy retired from Aegon. She truly enjoyed her trips with friends to Graceland every year and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Sandy also loved to be active and take walks.
Sandy is survived by her sons, Scott (Nancy) Nelson of Gilbert and Darin (Theresa) Nelson of Walford; and her grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley), Emma, Isaac, Adam and Alex.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Walter Hundt; husband, Dennis; son, Pat Nelson; sister, Marty Ruegge; and brother, Myron Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice House of Mercy.
