Nelson, Robert 'Bill'
Funeral services for Robert “Bill” Nelson, 79, of Tipton, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with Ron Lashmit officiating. Mr. Nelson died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at St. Luke's Respite Care in Cedar Rapids.
He was a crane consultant for P & H Cranes in Escanaba, Mich., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Conway, S.C., and later became vice president of Century Manufacturing in Tipton.
The son of Albin and Mae Nelson, he was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Escanaba, Mich., and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1950. He was united in marriage to Sandra K. Levsen on Sept. 21, 1995, in Tipton, Iowa. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra Nelson of Tipton; children, Patrick Nelson, Coleen Benoit, Paul Nelson, Troy Nelson and Terry Nelson; stepchildren, Rick Mizaur, Robin Martin and Rusty Mizaur; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sons, Scott and Michael Nelson.
