Ferry, James Lynn
James Lynn Ferry, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 14, 2012 after battling melanoma cancer for the past 10 months. Jim was born to Dennis McDonald Ferry and Carolyn Vesey Ferry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Nov. 11, 1962. Jim attended St. Joseph's Catholic Schools in Marion, Iowa, and Cedar Rapids Public Schools. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1981.
Jim graduated from Trinity International University with a degree in accounting, received his MBA from Aurora University, and was also awarded his CPA. He started his career at Micro Switch, a division of Honeywell, in Freeport, Ill., where he and his family lived until they moved to Holland, Mich. in 1998 to work for Johnson Controls. Jim continued to use his business talents at several other companies including GKN, Stryker, Oliver Tolas, and finishing his career at Aspen Surgical in Caledonia, Mich.
Jim attended Ridge Point Community Church in Holland, Mich. He sang in various church praise bands, and shared his vocal talents at many weddings. He also participated in his high school theatre/musical group called Momentum.
Jim is survived by his children, Lillian Elise Ferry, and Eric Joseph Ferry of Inver Grove, Minn.; his mother; his stepmother, Karen Gray Ferry; siblings, Dennise Ferry Bridgman (Rod) San Angelo, Texas, Holly Ferry Kennedy (Tim) Merrit Island, Fla., Eric Ferry (Brenda) Meridian, Miss., Jeremy Ferry (Wai) Minneapolis, Minn.; many nieces and nephews; and much extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ferry.
Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Ridge Point Community Church, 340 104th Ave., Holland, MI 49423. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012. In lieu of flowers an education memorial fund has been established at 5/3 Bank for Lillian and Eric's college education. Checks should be made to Ferry Family Support Trust and can be mailed to 10984 Thornberry Way, Zeeland, MI 49464.
