Robert M. Holland Sr., 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, M. Esther; daughters, Sheila Holland and Theresa Barnes, all of Cedar Rapids; brother, John Holland of California; four grandchildren, Jason Holland, William J. Barnes III, Collette Barnes and Jeremy Barnes, all of Cedar Rapids; and one great-grandchild.
Bob was born June 27, 1930, in Norway, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Helen (Usher) Holland. On Nov. 6, 1982, he married Mary Esther Mendoza in Cedar Rapids. Bob worked at Quaker Oats for 45 years. He was a member of Local Union No. 110, AFL-CIO and the Los Amigos Club. Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert M. Holland Jr.; and sisters, Marcella Fowler and Betty Parcel.
