Chris Bendixen, 72, of Olin, Iowa passed away on Nov. 6, 2018, at his home in Olin, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Olin, Iowa. A visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa, Iowa.
Chris was born on Oct. 30, 1946, to Werner and Margaret (Osterkamp) Bendixen. He attended schools in Wyoming and Oxford Junction. He married Carol Moore on November 2, 1964, and worked as a heavy equipment operator at Wendling Quarries for 25 years. Chris really enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Deb (Steve) Heiken of Wyoming, Stacy (Don) Yerington of Muscatine, Trent (Mary) Bendixen of Olin, Rod (Krista) Bendixen of Cedar Rapids, and Willy (Vicki) Bendixen of Mechanicsville; 10 grandchildren, April Smiley, Christopher Postel, Kasey Bean, Kelli Ubben, Beth Bendixen, Mitchell Bendixen, Seth Bendixen, Jordan Bendixen, Zach Bendixen and Kourtney Bendixen; one great-grandchild, Brooke Farrington; sisters, Margaret (Tom) Rohwedder of Wyoming, Anna Marie Entsminger of Anamosa, Silvia Rickels of Anamosa, and Evelyn (Jim) Heinsius of Cedar Bluff; his twin sister, Chrystal (Steve) Klatt of Olin; and brother, Richard (Arlene) Bendixen of Amber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; two brothers, Warner Jr. and Hans; and sister, Helen Fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family in his honor.
