Joyce M. Pearson, 83, of Independence, died Wednes-day, Nov. 4, 2015, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
She was born in Iowa on Feb. 23, 1932, the daughter of Herman William and Berniece Helen (Maher) Kading. She graduated from high school in Van Horne. On Aug. 10, 1950, she and Keith Conrad Pearson were married in Agency, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2012. Mrs. Pearson cared for her family, but also was a willing partner in her husband's endeavors. While in the Independence area, they farmed and also were owners and operators of Western Auto Hardware Store.
Mrs. Pearson was always focused on her family. She also enjoyed shopping and watching University of Iowa football and basketball games.
Mrs. Pearson is survived by two daughters, Connie Jo Haynes of Waterloo and Pamela (Rich) Sackett of Winthrop; three grandchildren, Justin Rogers of Bradenton, Fla., Kelby (Ashley) Haynes of Waterloo and Dawn (Ryan) Kress of Winthrop;
and two
great-grand-children, Kading Kress and Reagan Kress.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Nicholas Sperfslage.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation after 11 a.m. Saturday at White Funeral Home, Independence.
