Arlene Wilhelmina Hein, 92, of Tipton, passed away quietly surrounded by her family on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bennett. Burial and graveside services will be in Inland Cemetery, rural Bennett, with a lunch in Arlene's honor immediately following at the Bennett Community Center. Visitation will be at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Arlene was born Aug. 29, 1925, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Reinking) Lett. She was baptized Oct. 6, 1925, in Stanwood, Iowa, and confirmed April 10, 1938, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. On Dec. 8, 1946, she married Lloyd Hein at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton. Lloyd passed away June 28, 2008. Lloyd and Arlene made their home on the farm. They farmed together for over 53 years near Bennett and Tipton.
She was an active member of her church, serving in the Ladies Aid, as a Sunday school teacher and volunteering for Vacation Bible School. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, painting and reading. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States, as well as Switzerland. Arlene belonged to her card club for over 25 years. She lived on the farm her whole life until moving into Tipton following retirement.
She is survived by a son, Dale (Kathy) Hein of Tipton; three daughters, Sandra (Paul) Mueller of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Cindy (John) Gibson of Cary, N.C., and Twyla (Kim) Hein of Tipton; her grandchildren, Tara Mueller, Karl Mueller, Derek McCaw, Travis McCaw, Tyler McCaw, Bill Kanke and Brenda Poole; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Matthew, Phillip, Alexandra, Morgan, Sara, Dayle, William and Alex; great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jude; and brothers, Donald and Edwin Lett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her son, Gary; her brothers, Wilbert and Elwood; a sister, Norma; and a grandson, Kevin Kanke.
