Verlien May Rusk, 89, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Verlien was born May 14, 1926, to James and Mable (Bell) Sigmund in Westchester, Iowa. She married George D. Rusk Jr. on Sept. 25, 1948, in Iowa City.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Bill) Thomas of Anamosa, Ron (Teri) Clarke of Cedar Rapids, Jack (Nancy) Clarke of Castle Rock, Colo., Sheila (Jack) Miller of Marion, James Rusk of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and George (Pam) Rusk III of Center Point; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Verlien was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George; her parents; two sisters, Eunace Allen and Ruth Clarke; and her great-grandson, Michael Kopp.
