Helen Lucille Davis was born in Marion. She graduated from Marion High School and went on to work in various capacities. During World War II she worked for a time in a defense plant located near San Diego and, years later, after marriage, she spent time working at the county auditor's office. On Jan. 4, 1963, she married Donald Davis in Phoenix, Ariz. After that, they moved across Iowa as Don's career took them, with Helen making each new house a home. For the last 35 years, that home has been in Iowa City. Whether in their younger years or more recently, Don and Helen were never far apart.
Helen's family includes her husband of nearly 50 years, Donald; sons, Alan Miles (Karen) of Blairstown and Kurt Miles (Dixie) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Lily, Nicci, Zak, Hannah, Brittany and Emma; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Trice, Briggs, Taio, and Olive; and sister, Phyllis Lacock of New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evie Noah; and brother, John “Buzzy” Freeman.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City is caring for Helen's family and her services.
