Hagensick, Joshua Thomas
Joshua Thomas Hagensick, 24, of Monona, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, after a courageous lifelong battle against the odds. He was born on April 28, 1988, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Christine Gjetley and Duane Hagensick. Joshua graduated from MFL MarMac High School, Monona, in 2007.
Joshua's vibrancy and zest for life was infectious; he was a true lover of life. That love radiated from his kilowatt smile to all those he has encountered. Some of his favorite loves included the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, NASCAR, animals, video games and baseball caps. While Joshua's time on this earth was not nearly long enough, his strength, positive energy and steadfast resilience against all of life's hurdles will live on in the hearts and minds of all of those his light has touched.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Christine Gjetley of Marquette; his father, Duane (Marie Ostrander Olsen) Hagensick of Monona; maternal grandfather, Thomas Kautman of McGregor; paternal grandfather, Richard Hagensick of Monona; a brother, Shane (Maria Sivesind) Hagensick of Waukon; and two sisters, Lacey (Joshua Diehl) Hagensick of Dubuque and Meaghan Hagensick of Los Angeles, Calif.
He is further survived by a loving array of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and all those his smile touched during his 24 short years.
Joshua was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joyce Kautman; paternal grandmother, Madeline Hagensick; and an uncle, Jeffrey Hagensick.
A celebration of Joshua's life will be held at the Leonard - Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 500 W. Center St., Monona, from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona is helping the family with the arrangements.
