Mary E. Ford, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her children, Michael Ford, Dennis (Marsha) Ford, Julie (Bill) Fowler and Ann (Lee) Bauer, all of Cedar Rapids; and grandsons, Adam and Ben Ford and Christopher Bauer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mike Ford, in 2006.
Mary Eileen Stenner was born June 1, 1924, in Reedsburg, Wis., the daughter of Leon and Violet (Strubing) Stenner. Mary graduated from Franklin High School and attended Iowa State University and Monticello College in Illinois. On Oct. 25, 1946, she married R. Michael "Mike" Ford at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
She was actively involved in her community, including the Junior League of Cedar Rapids, was past president of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and was awarded the Mercy Hospital Volunteer 5,000-hour pin. Mary also was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she had been active in St. Monica's Circle.
She enjoyed family gatherings, bridge club, and loved drawing.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Memorial donations may be given in her name to All Saints Catholic Church or Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum.
The family would like to thank Dr. Pope and the staff at Cottage Grove and Mercy Medical Center.
