Steven J. "Steve" Fry, 53, of North Liberty, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home in North Liberty.
An informal gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City, with a private family burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Instead of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be directed to the El Kahir Shrine Transportation Fund or the charity of your choice.
Steve was born Sept. 26, 1965, in Iowa City, the son of James and Glenna (Taylor) Fry,
Steve grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1984. He was currently an assistant manager with Pizza Hut in North Liberty.
Steve married Janet "Jan" Durham on March 3, 2018. He enjoyed sports, including Chicago Cubs baseball, the Minnesota Vikings and the Boston Celtics. Steve very much enjoyed time spent with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; his parents, Jim and Glenna Fry of Iowa City; his sister, Julie Fell (Rob) of West Branch; stepchildren, Jeremy (Stacey) Herrick of Solon, Justin (Jacqueline) Herrick of Anamosa and Jolynn Herrick of Iowa City; grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Mickala, Haley, Malachi, Chavah and Elijah; nephews Jonathan Fell (Alexandra), and Ryan Fell (Ashley); and two great-nieces. Aunts and uncles include Juanita Elick of Iowa City, Christine Fry and Carolyn Taylor of North Liberty, and Jim Taylor of Bloomington, Minn. He is also survived by many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents as well as many aunts and uncles.
