Janet Bickford, 78, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa with a Scripture service starting at 3:30 p.m.

Surviving are three daughters, Debra (Bill) Weseman of Kalispell, Mont., Linda (Roy) Williams of Pasadena, Texas and Lisa (Richard) Bierman of Martelle; a son, Steve (Marni) Bickford of Anamosa; grandchildren, Jennie (Eric) Fisher, Christy Ridgway, Carrie (Kyle) Gable, Willie (Christy) Weseman, Clint (Shelly) Williams, Adam Williams, Drew (Leah) Williams, Nicole (Brandon) Wethington, Jaclyn and Emily Siebels and Brock, Cody, Jordan and Wyatt Bickford; three brothers, Richard (Pat) Merritt, Robert (Shirley) Merritt and Dennis (Mary) Merritt; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (1996); a sister, Geri Christensen; a daughter, Brenda Johnson; and grandchildren, Dillon Bickford, Robert Bickford and Sandy Hart.
Janet was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Waubeek, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clement and Evelyn Peterson Merritt. Janet attended school in Viola, Iowa. In 1951, Janet was united in marriage to Raymond Bickford. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
