Sherry L. Smith, 62, of Iowa City, Iowa, died on Sept. 29, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. She was born on March 16, 1956, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Dick and Shirley (Weston) Smith. Sherry graduated from Independence High School in 1974. She then completed her training as a nurse's aide.
Over the years, she worked as a nurse's aide and did factory work in the Evansdale, Waterloo, area as her health permitted.
Sherry enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include her son, Joey Smith of Cedar Rapids; her father, Dick Smith of Manchester; her siblings, Constance (Dale) Brandt of Waverly, David (Jodi) Smith of Hiawatha, Darren (Sabrina) Smith of Overland Park, Kan., and Stephanie (Mike) Reineck of Lake Elmo, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Smith, in 1999.
