Orville Laurel John Weiss died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 83 years.
Orville was born Sept. 4, 1931, near Williamsburg,
Iowa, the son of Laurel and Amanda (Koester) Weiss. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army Infantry during the Korean War. He farmed in Iowa County for over 65 years. On Dec. 17, 2014, Orville was united in marriage to Barbara McCune in North English.
He enjoyed raising horses for 15 years, flying and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Barb of Williams-burg; a sister, Lucille Maas of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; a brother, Laurel Weiss Jr.; and a sister, Loraine Biershenk.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A general memorial fund has been established.
