Carl D. Vincent, 58, of Keota, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.
Carl was born March 16, 1956, in Washington, Iowa, to Dale E. and Phyllis J. (George) Vincent, and
graduated from Keota High School in 1974. He then attended Kirkwood Community College before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1975. Carl served as a mechanic, working on B-52 bombers until his discharge in 1979. He then returned to Kirkwood to complete the machinist's program. Carl worked for different tool and die makers until 1994, when he became a mechanic for Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
He enjoyed classic autos, collecting and trading antique tractors, guns, railroad memorabilia, auctions, collecting unique items and working with his friends in the garage.
Survivors include two brothers, Philip E. (Jane) Vincent of Milwaukee, Wis., and Douglas D. (Nancy) Vincent of Coralville; special friend, Jeanne Conrad of Washington; and stepnephew, Paul Freitag-Fey of Skokie, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with the Rev. Robert Preston officiating. Burial will be in Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for the Keota Veterans Memorial.
