Swanson, Raoul Powell
Raoul Powell Swanson, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held at the family's home at 807 Kaitlynn Ave. in Anamosa from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9. A private family military memorial will take place at a later date.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; three children, Lynette (David Ogle) Smothers, Ken (Susan) Swanson and Kyle Swanson; and five grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, Jennifer, Ben and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jerry.
Raoul Powell Swanson was born June 20, 1928, in Chariton, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Doline (Kyner) Swanson. On Oct. 10, 1953, Raoul and Janice Murfield were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Raoul served his country in the United States Navy. Raoul owned and operated Swanson Bookkeeping in Anamosa for more than 45 years. He was a life long member of the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. Raoul was a donor to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Anamosa Library Children's Fund or Anamosa Area Ambulance.
