Powell, Bonnie
Bonnie Powell, 92, formerly of Rowley, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her family. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at White Funeral Home in Independence, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Karen) Powell of Davenport, Fla.; a daughter, Janet (Russell) Marks of Cedar Rapids; a sister, LaVena Allen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; a brother, Dean Butterfield of Charles City; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Powell; and a brother.
Bonnie was born Aug. 26, 1917, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Charles LeRoy and Velma (Doty) Butterfield. She graduated from Troy Mills High School and then married Wilbur Powell on May 19, 1937, in Center Point. She attended Cornerstone Four Square Church in Independence.
