Barta, Audrey Jean
Audrey Jean Barta, 85, of Solon, died at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon, Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Robert A. Barta of Solon; son, Jeff (Doreen) Barta of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Nancy (Mark) Menefee of Branson West, Mo.; grandchildren, John Metz, Bradley Metz and Jami (Josh) Wingert; great-grandchildren, Andrew Wingert, Taylor Metz and Sydney Metz; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sisters.
Born Dec. 15, 1927, in Independence, Iowa, Jean was the daughter of Harry and Rachael (Baum) Gardner. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Parlor City Furniture in Cedar Rapids. On April 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Barta in Cedar Rapids.
She enjoyed playing bingo, poker and the slots.
