Farmer, Stanley R.
Stanley R. Farmer, 70, of Marion, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer officiating.
Stanley R. Farmer was born April 30, 1942, to Eugene and Violet Palmer Farmer in Harlan County, Ky. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Jean Dolash on April 3, 1971, in Toledo, Iowa and to this union two children were born, Stacy and Shane. Stan worked at Merchants National Bank for 25 years and at American College Testing before retirement.
Stan enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Stacy (Tony) Sablan of Firebaugh, Calif., and Shane Farmer of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Ella, Elias, Edward and Evan Sablan; and brother, William (Sheila) Farmer of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean O'Connor; and stepfather, Carl Dalton.
