Lloyd "Wayne" Lucas, 89, of Marion, died Nov. 2, 2018, four days short of his 90th birthday. Wayne passed away at St. Luke's hospice unit. He had faced a variety of health problems for many years with dignity.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Wichita, Kan., to Arthur and Ann Lucas. Following graduation from high school, Wayne joined the Navy and served for 20 years. Following that, he worked as a tech writer at Collins Radio for 21 years. While in the Navy, he met and married a Navy WAVE, Noma Wilkerson, in 1951. They shared a strong love for 67 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Noma; children, Karen (Gary) Sands, Paul (Terri) Lucas and Dale (Sue) Lucas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Ileen Penna; niece, Helen Harjo; and nephew, Robert Penna.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Janice Lucas.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in Wayne's memory to First United Methodist Church in Marion or Patriot Guard Riders.
