Steven Lynn Brokel, 58, of Anamosa, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a courageous and valiant fight with cancer.
Steven was born July 9, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard and Carol Spangler Brokel. He was a 1976 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and went on to Cornell College, Mount Vernon, for a year before beginning his career with Borden's Ice Cream followed by Schwans.

Steven was an avid golfer and longtime member of Fawn Creek Country Club, Anamosa. Steven was a strong enthusiatist for all Iowa Hawkeye sports and Cubs baseball. He most recently took up motorcycling again and spent many hours enjoying the open road.
Steven's true joy came from spending time with his beloved daughter and son-in-law and his two precious grandchildren, Chace and Reece. They were the light of his life.
Steven is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cameron and Jacob Noyes, his grandson, Chace, and his granddaughter, Reece, of Marion; his mother, Carol Brokel of Mount Vernon; and his brothers, David (Jane) Brokel of Riverside and Bob Brokel of Anamosa.
