On to national tourney for Kirkwood men

Jordan Stoermer connected on big 3-point shot in regulation and Jarvis Williams' dunk off a steal in overtime were key as Kirkwood captured the Region XI title Sunday with a 63-59 win over Ellsworth at Iowa Central Community College.

The victory moves the Eagles to 25-7 on the season. They will part of the 16-team national tournament, which gets underway March 16 in Danville, Ill. Kirkwood will find out their first-round opponent later today.

In Sunday's win, Jarvis Williams led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylon Williams had 15 points and 11 boards while Trevell Rivers came off the bench to score 11 points and grab 11 rebounds. The Eagles out-rebounded Ellsworth, 61-34.

Stoermer finished with 12 points for Kirkwood.

L.C. Doss led Ellsworth with 19 points. Bill Freeman came off the bench to add 18.
