Kenyi paces Mustangs to narrow win

Sam Kenyi scored 26 points, nailing 9 of 11 shots from the field, as No. 22 Mount Mercy nipped William Penn, 79-78, last night in a Midwest Collegiate Conference men's basektball game at the Hennessey Rec Center.
The Mustangs (9-2, 1-1) also got 17 points Chad Underwood and 10 apiece from David Campbell and Alex Coleman.
Kenyi also had 17 rebounds.
Alan Douglas led William Penn (6-7, 1-1) with 29 points.
LUTHER 74, SIMPSON 71 - Tim Merritt scored 23 points and Dane Larson added 18 as the Norse won at overtime Iowa Conference game in Indianola.
Zack Barragan led Simpson with 18 points.
Tyer Wedemeier scored 11 for Luther and John Androus had 10 rebounds to go with nine points.
Larson connected on 8 of 12 shots from the field, Merroitt 8-16, including 7 of 14 from 3-point range.
CENTRAL 65, COE 44 - Chris Lehmann scored 13 points and Nick Marinkovich 11 as Central improved to 6-1, 3-0 with an Iowa Conference win at home.
Coe (3-4, 1-2) was led by Davd Mataloni with 11 pints.
The Kohawks, down 40-23 at halftime, shot just 31 percent from the field, hitting 14 of 46 field goals and just 3 of 14 3-pointers.
DUBUQUE 74, CORNELL 64 - Lee Piccinelli led a trio of double-figure scores as Dubuque downed the Rams in Mount Vernon.
Piccinelli had 19 points, Chris Frazier 17 and Mitch Michaelis 10 for Dubuque, which improved to 5-1, 2-0 in the Iowa Conference.
Cornell (1-6, 0-3) got 19 points from Rory Cotter , 16 from Nick Bobb and 11 from Reggie Greenwood.
Dubuque shot nearly 50 percent from the field, including 66.7 in the second half.
