Phil Colbert, 57, of Coralville, formerly of Riverside, passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at his home in Coralville. Funeral services for Phil will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Riverside V.F.W. Visitation for Phil will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Phil.

Phil Colbert was born April 4, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Timothy Francis and Darlene (Huff) Colbert. Phil was a 1975 graduate of Highland High School. He worked as a truck driver for Kings Building Materials for over 25 years. Phil was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and loved to spend time with his daughters. Phil was known for his lively sense of humor and was always on call to assist his family and friends when a helping hand was needed.

Phil will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Ashley Colbert Cate and husband Stephen of Boston, Mass., and Brooklyn Colbert and her boyfriend, Brandon Hanson, of Minneapolis, Minn.; mother, Darlene Huff of Iowa City; siblings, Yvonne Bickel and husband Rob of Marengo, Mark Colbert and wife Brenda of Iowa City, Paul Colbert of Cedar Rapids and Michael Colbert of Iowa City; and six nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his father and uncle, Richard Colbert.
