MARENGO - A Marengo man pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree harassment for making threats against Amana Refrigeration Appliance factory last May.
Boubker Lamkadmi, 42, was originally charged with threat of terrorism but a plea agreement was reached Monday in Iowa County District Court. According to the plea agreement, his intent was to alarm employees working at the factory.
Lamkadmi told co-workers he was going to blow up the plant because his friend and brother Osama Bin Laden was killed, according to a police report. He also made gestures to mock holding a rocket launcher or bazooka.
Lamkadmi told a judge during his initial court appearance that he was "only joking."
Lamkadmi also was sentenced to 180 days in jail and one year probation.
