VINCENT L. FOUBERT (VINCE)
Fairfax
Vincent L. Foubert (Vince), 83, of Fairfax, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Vince was born in a farmhouse in Iowa County on Sept. 22, 1933, to Doris E. Dillon and Harry V. Foubert. He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1952, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he attended the University of Iowa and earned a Master of Arts in education. On April 6, 1968, Vince married Gayla A. Seidler from Wausau, Wis., and they made their home in Clinton, where Vince worked as a school psychologist. In retirement, Vince enjoyed reading, traveling the Southwest in his RV and playing games with friends and family. He will be affectionately remembered for his teasing sense of humor and enthusiasm for Hawkeye football.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Gayla; his sons, Matthew Foubert of Cedar Rapids and John (Robin) Foubert, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; his daughter, Katharine (Carl) Jantz of Columbia, Mo.; his five grandchildren, Joe, Jenna, Eli, Logan and Derek; and his brother, Dean (Carol) Foubert, of Kingman, Ariz.
Vince was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene (Dale) Collingwood.
A private family service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Inurnment will be at Millersburg Cemetery, where his parents, grandparents and great-grandparents also are buried.
