Evelyn Marie Port, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Manor Care Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the chapel. A committal service will immediately follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Evelyn was born April 24, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Klinkkamer) Yeater. She loved to sew wedding dresses and clothes for her family and friends. Evelyn worked at Wilson Packing House and in later years, Cedar Rapids Country Club.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Randy Port; brothers, Edward, Melvin and Ron; and sister, Althea Kuzela.
Left to cherish Evelyn's memories are her children, Gary (Bobbi) Port of Cedar Rapids, Jan (George) Mulholland of Iowa Park, Texas, and Karen (Robert) Walton of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tricia (Doug) Krsek, Nolan (Kristal) Mulholland, Whitney (Paul) Magers, Nikki (Devon) Morgan, Alisha Evans and George (Amy) Walton; great-grandchildren, Abby, Lauren, Samuel, Seth, Owen, Jack, Aaron, Arylaan, Rolondo, Cassius, Evelyn and Benjamin; one sister, Violet McDonald; and one brother, Marvin Yeater. She is also survived by three stepgrandchildren, 11 stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to best friends, Betsy and Margo, for always making Evelyn happy. Also a special thanks to the church members of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for always being there for Evelyn.
A memorial fund has been established.
