FRANCIS "SKIP" PETERSON

Francis "Skip" Peterson, 68, of Marion, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; son, Mickey (Millie) Peterson of West Des Moines; daughter, Angie Parenteau of Marion; grandchildren, Ethan, Chloe, Talia, and Phoebe; siblings, Jerry, Patrick, Joe and Pam; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Zach.
Skip was born Sept. 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Francis William Sr. and Patricia (Mally) Peterson. He graduated from Marion High School and married Judy McFate on March 7, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. Skip was most recently a designer/ draftsman for Shive-Hattery in Cedar Rapids until his retirement.
He enjoyed drawing, painting and martial arts. More than anything, Skip loved his family. He was the best dad and grandpa and will be especially missed by his granddaughters.
