A new co-working space is now open in Marion, joining a list of shared office spaces already in the Corridor.
Marion Economic Development Corp. announced the opening of Loft Coworking Friday. The organization will host a ribbon cutting for the venue, 700 11th St., Suite 201, at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14.
Loft Co-working has work stations, private offices, a conference room and wireless internet access for members of the space.
Shared office spaces, such as Loft, are where entrepreneurs, remote employees, freelancers and other professionals can pay for a membership to have a place to work. Instead of working from home or local coffee shops, co-working spaces are meant to give those workers a more office-type environment.
'Co-working is a great way for location independent professionals to have both a quiet or collaborative environment to grow their ideas and grow their business,” MEDCO President Nick Glew said in a news release.
Other co-working spaces in the Corridor include the Vault in the New Bohemia District in Cedar Rapids; Dostal House, a female-centric workspace also in NewBo; and MERGE and RADinc in Iowa City.
