City should consider milkweed planters

I propose the city of Cedar Rapids have milkweed planters throughout the city. If we had planters, they hopefully would help raise the average population of monarch butterflies in Iowa, which recently has been dwindling.
A 2017 Department of Natural Resources report mentioned that milkweed has declined by 80 percent nationally. Cedar Rapids could be the first city to have milkweed planters. And, if it is, maybe other towns and cities will follow Cedar Rapids' influence and join the effort to save the monarchs. I hope it works out.
