Janet Marie Nesley, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, with a one-hour visitation before the service. Graveside services: 3 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Survivors include her children, Jill (Dean) Waterhouse, Jonathan Nesley and Jennifer Nesley, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ryan, Nick, Nathan, Alissa, Kaylee and Emily; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean (Marcia) Nesley of Wisconsin, Patsy (Keith) Peyton of Coggon and Charlie May of Stone City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; daughter, Julie; and brother, Robert Farmer.
Janet was born March 29, 1937, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Cecil and Augusta (Rieken) Farmer. She graduated with the class of 1955 from Anamosa High School. On June 2, 1963, she married Norman Nesley at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver.
Janet enjoyed bowling, traveling, shopping and getting together with her classmates and family.
She was a very giving person who loved people and treasured relationships.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janet's honor.
