Ruby (Jones) Bearbower, 104, died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab Center in Vinton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Brandon United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Lexi Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St. in Vinton. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be left at www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com.
Ruby Irene Jones was born Aug. 6, 1913, in Garrison to Miles and Mabel (Schlarbaum) Jones. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1931. Ruby was united in marriage to Harry Bearbower on April 17, 1932. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1976.
Ruby was an avid Cubs fan and loved to crochet afghans and give them away to her family and friends. She also tended to her garden until she was 97 and loved to play bingo.
Ruby is survived by her son, Bob (LaVon) Bearbower; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Earl; sister, Elsie Bauman; brother, Kenneth Jones; and granddaughter, Jenise McDonald.
