Leona, daughter of George H. and Trena Riekena Geerdes, was born on Oct. 7, 1927, in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, Iowa. She graduated from Wellsburg High School, attended the University of Iowa, and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College. On June 15, 1950, Lee was united in marriage to John "Jack" Lee Fraseur in Wellsburg, Iowa. Together, they had three sons, Randy, Brent and David; and a daughter, Amy. Lee believed that living in a small Iowa farming community provided families with a supportive network of people who take care of each other through good times and bad. She was proud to serve her community and was actively involved in Tipton life. Lee was a member of the Tipton United Methodist Church, the Athenaeum, Nineteenth Century Club, and the United Methodist Women. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
Lee is survived by her two children, David (Alicia) Fraseur and children Julia and Joseph of West Lafayette, Ind., and Amy Fraseur and child Grace Nelsen of Hopkins, Minn.; other grandchildren, Christine Boeve, Andrea Summers, J.R. Skola and Brandon and Vanessa Fraseur; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Cooper Boeve, Eviana and Remy Skola and Emmett Summers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; sons, Randy and Brent Fraseur; and her brother, Harold Geerdes.
